When it comes to the art of housebuilding, Orion Homes are renowned for being a fair way ahead of the competition. We’re less sure of our abilities on the golf course, but we seem to be getting into the swing of things after a team of past and present Orion staff reached the final of a regional contest.
Held at the Forest Pines club in North Lincolnshire, the Race to Paris event was organised by the David Edwards Trick Shot Golf Show. Businesses throughout the North were invited to enter teams to compete for a dream prize: the chance to play at the Albatros Course of Le Golf National in Guyancourt, Paris, scene of Europe’s stunning victory in the 2018 Ryder Cup. The Race to Paris competition started with various qualifying events at many of the region’s most prestigious clubs.
Orion put together a four-strong line-up which included Quantity Surveyor Ian Halliday, plasterer Kevin Sorby, roofer Nigel Wood and retired former employee, David Proctor. They played in a qualifying event at Ganton Golf Club in North Yorkshire and, after putting in a fine performance, they secured a spot in the final at Forest Pines.
Unfortunately, Team Orion missed out on the trip to Paris, but they finished in a creditable 8th place. If the opportunity arises, the fantastic foursome are tempted to have another tilt next year!
Keen golfers are well served at Orion Homes’ current developments in Yorkshire. The Poplars in Brayton is just three minutes’ drive from Selby Golf Club and Leafield Gardens is just four minutes’ drive from Low Laithes Golf Club. Vicarage Meadows is located a few miles from Meltham Golf Club whilst Jubilee Gardens in Gilberdyke is situated within easy reach of both Cave Castle Golf Club and Brough Golf Club.
